Our yet-to-be-named cook book will be released sometime in October – we should have an actual date wuthin the next couple of weeks. We’ll be setting up for presales around that time, also.
The exciting news? We start photography for it tomorrow!!
This weekend was a tiring bunch of prep work for the start of photography. Running around, figuring out what to buy for backdrops, accessories / props, etc. Getting more serving plates in different styles, forks.. and a few more cocktail glasses. I think we’re all set to go!
Why cocktail glasses? Well, the book has a duel focus – it features recipes for cocktails.. and cakes/sweets BASED ON those cocktails! There are some seriously heavy hitting, amazing recipes in this book. My favorite so far is the Mango Mojito Upside Down Cake. Wild! We put that cake to our regular monthly group of “guinea pigs”, and even the most fussy eater in the group gave it a “10″.
If you can’t wait for October to try these goodies, don’t worry – you don’t have to! We will be featuring a good handful of goodies from the book at each Maple Grove Farmer’s Market we’re at, till the end of August! Come by and try a slice of heaven! This week, we will be featuring cakes based on tropical cocktails. Yum!
As you may (or may not!) know, we’ve been working on a book for awhile now. A few actually, but that’s for a later date. Right now, we’re far enough along on the first that we can spill the beans!

Exciting Weekend, Part Deux.
Monday, July 21st, 2008Exciting Weekend for me – Part 1
Friday, July 18th, 2008This weekend is a special one for me, for a few reasons: - The very first Celebration Generation client is getting married on Saturday! Like most of our clients, she booked waaaaay in advance. So, while she’s far from being our first delivery, it’s still a cool milestone, I think!- It’s all about the sugar / gumpaste with the two wedding cakes going out this weekend! More on that in a minute.- Both cakes got delivered tonight. A Friday! That means I actually have a weekend off for once! Very excited about that. What am I gonna do? Work, of course… but more on that in tomorrows’ blog! Very excited about what I’m doing this weekend..

Pride weekend recap!
Monday, July 7th, 2008Whew! It’s been a full week since the end of Pride, and I’m finally recovered enough to post. Err… well maybe a little procrastination was involved… whatever! The funny thing is, the day after Pride, my head was just swimming with all the stuff I had to post about.. now, a week later.. it doesn’t seem so intimidating! I just hope I don’t forget anything! Anyway, Pride was – as always – a total blast. It was a lot less work this year – last year I was the florist, and had to decorate 3 separate ceremony areas, as well as pump out custom boutonnieres all day, both days.. all the while doing the contracts for hubby’s photography!
This year, the big stress came from baking for a couple of celebrities! (more…)
