Great advice. I went to a wedding that did a lot of the things outlined in your blog and I think it was one of the best weddings I've ever attended. Everything was done tastefully, but with an eye on value. What really shone through was the love of the couple and the fun the guests were having. One thing I really remember is the single white flower that all the bridesmaids carried - the bride wrapped each in ribbon herself and it was lovely and elegant. The bride then carried a bunch of the same flowers wrapped together. They also opted to have a dessert buffet, rather than a full dinner buffet. (Of course, their gorgeous wedding cake was the centerpiece for the buffet.) They found it was less expensive than a full meal and everyone loved it - no rubbery chicken to pretend to enjoy!

I also recently received a "save the date" card that I thought was beautiful. I assumed the bride spent a mint on them and mentioned to her how beautiful they were. I was shocked to hear she'd done them herself - you really CAN do something that looks totally professional. She'd had the information pre-printed on white stationary that was lined in silver and affixed a silver ribbon at the top with a plastic "engagement ring" tied into the bow. In the middle was glued a black & white engagement photo.
