Pioneers of “Cake Taxidermy”!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

What happens when a couple loves their personalized, World of Warcraft groom’s cake SO MUCH, that they can’t bear to serve it?

Well,  when the cake was created by an evil cake overlord, they can get it preserved. For real.

“Foopmallet” gained immortality 1 month after he was created, and the whole process is documented here.

We love challenges!

Sonnet for Caffeine

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

(Apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning!)

How do I love Caffeine? Let me count the ways.
I love caffeine to the height (and height.. and height!)
My buzz can reach, when feeling short of sleep
For the end of fatigue and brain fog.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most basic need – energy, sweet energy
I love thee freely, as I hit the gym;
I love thee purely, as I craft my cakes.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old bones, but with my childhood’s 00ntz.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost sanity, — I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! — and, if I choose,
I shall but love thee better…
as an IV drop of 5 hour Energy Shot!

Ok, so I am SO totally not a poet… but what can I say, there is something about abusing stimulants that gets my heart racing!

Oh wait.. that’s the caffeine. Tee Hee!

In all seriousness, I loves me some energy shots.. energy drinks.. more energy shots… whatever. So it really didn’t surprise anyone when I put my love of uppers together with my love of baking, and crafted some true genius…

Introducing our “Jacked Up Java” line!

“Jacked Up Java” is the first in our new line of highly buzzworthy products. Literally buzzworthy – they are loaded up with real coffee, chocolate, caffeine AND guarana! Each serving (2 cookies, or 1 brownie) contains the same amount of caffeine as a large cup of premium coffee!

click here to check out our Jacked up Java baking mixes, or here to order ready-baked goodies.

These are, of course, only the start of our evil plans. Check back for announcements of new flavors and offerings in the future!

Low Country Boil

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Wanted to give a quick head’s up – just posted a new recipe here: http://celebrationgeneration.com/recipes/?p=56

Not only have I been really bad about posting new recipes over there, there’s another reason for this head’s up.

The recipe is for Low Country Boil.. not a common thing here in Minnesota, but it is SO freaking good!  It’s also pretty much the ideal meal for getting together – and would be great for a rehearsal dinner.

Hubby and I actually planned to do a Low Country Boil for our own rehearsal dinner, but his stepmother already had something planned.  Figured I’d put that out there for those of you looking for new and unique ideas to employ in your own wedding plans!

Now THAT is an invite!

Click here to see the coolest wedding invitation I’ve seen in a very long time. It’s a youtube video!

As you may have noticed, I’m a huge fan of couples that really personalize their wedding day. I CANNOT imagine how much time and effort this must have taken… but they get a big thumbs up from me.. even if it was a little long for my poor ADD-riddled attention span :)

Crazy Cat!

If you attended the 2008 Twin City Bridal Association Wedding Fair.. oh, January or March… you might remember our ridiculous 10 foot tall cake!

It was actually a fake cake, and it was retired immediately after the show. I mean, what further use would we have for a 10 foot tall, neon green fake cake, right? So, we brought it home (NO room for it in our commercial kitchen!) and stuck it in the corner of our home office till we could figure out a use for it, or repurpose the foam. It’s been sitting there ever since, completely ignored… until today.

Our adorable kitten, “Tweak”, has decided that the 10 foot tall (!!!) fake wedding cake is about the coolest bed he could ever have.. and has adopted it. Twice in the past 2 days now, we’ve found him up in one of the separators, taking a nap. I guess we’ve found the new purpose for it.

Too cute not to share pics!

Awesome review!

Just received an email, letting me know that Chow.com was recommending our Chai Shortbread Cookie Mix. Click here to see their write up.

How awesome is that? I love hearing people compliment the ease and fail-safe nature of our mixes, but baking drunk on top of that? Awesome.
